Debut album by great Italian band mixing Goth with darkwave and synth soundscapes... Born in 2000 from an idea by bassist
After 3 critically acclaimed demos (2003, 2006 and 2008), "In the Garden of Ecstasy" is the band's offical debut and comprises 16 tracks of (lyrically speaking) traditional gothic themes. With this album, the band abandoned their initial gothic rock attitude in order to explore wider territories of British influenced Goth- and post Punk, enriched by a good portion of electro and almost teutonic EBM sounds. The result is a clean sound always in search for harmony and catchy melodies - with a wonderful vocal performance by singer Hatria
Songs like "Love must die" or "Delirium & Love" sound very "Eighties" influenced, rhythmic and tribal, somewhere between Batcave
and the best period of Siouxsie
, but slightly more aggressive while tracks such as the title song are more electronic, dance-oriented and appealing to a more German audience.
"My Mother is like a Stereo" (which addresses the violence on children) on the other hand is a masterpiece of purest rhythmic electro and EBM - still maintining though a certain post-punk attitude. Extraordinary also the beautiful vocals - theatrical, heavenly, sometimes almost hysteric and desperate, alternated with moments of pure classical textures. An amazing debut that promises a lot!
