An experimental music duo formed in the UK in 1983, when school friends Clive Weston and Steve Lippert bought some very cheap instruments - a Casio SK-1 and a Casio VL-Tone. They also had a TV nearby and a cheap tape recorder. During the next couple of years they created about 10 tunes. Very very lo-fi, and quite messy. Then, around 1990, Steve (by now a graphic designer) was photographing a band called 'Belief' and was invited back to their studio to listen to their tunes. He asked if he could borrow their Yamaha DX27, to which they agreed.
This led to more ...
This led to more Treeline tracks being created, but these were still recorded to a tape deck, and in mono! Since then there haven't been many new tracks by the band, although a few years ago, Steve did have a play in Garageband, which lead to a track called 'I'm Almost Home' being created. Despite it only being an uncompleted track, it seemed to be popular with anyone Steve shared it with. Steve was by now the in-house graphic designer at Anna Logue Records (during nights and weekends!) and decided that a Treeline release could no longer wait. 'It's No Good Trying To Reason With Me' came out on the limited 'Attractive Too' compilation ep 7", and that led to Dave Hewson (of Poeme Electronique fame) remastering another Treeline tune called 'Too Hollow' (originally recorded around 1986).
