First limited edition of the previous album in Digipak plus Slipcase, 5 Stickers and Poster.Limited deluxe edition of the third album - the so far most successful album, getting overwhelming reviews Everywhere. Legends Of Blood And Light opens strongly with 'No Return'. After a brooding keyboard intro and female harmony vocals on the verse, the chorus kicks in with a powerful shamanic drumbeat and hypnotic refrains, 'Talisman' continues in this vein, with darbuka hand drumming and sinuous, ululating vocals intro-ducing an exotic, middle-eastern flavour.
Lady Morte's and Arianne's vocal ...
Lady Morte's and Arianne's vocal harmonising is one of TDM's real strong points. 'Morrigan' is a sweeping ballad devoted to the Irish goddess of death in battle, featuring some kind of medieval sounding bagpipe-like instrument which I guess is those mysterious 'duddlesacks'. 'Inside The Infinite Abyss' has a stirring martial flavour, with the combination of crisp snare-drum rolls and soaring female vocals inviting comparison to A Challenge Of Honour and Les Joyaux De La Princesse. The warm, close-harmony chanting, hollow, thudding drum and violin of 'Awareness' are quite similar to a lot of traditional Scandinavian folk music, and another highlight of the album is 'The Sorceress', with its keening, incantatory vocals and skirling medieval pipes and flute. Lovely to my ears are the fey fantasies of 'The Last Unicorn', 'The Seahorse' and 'The Fairies Wind'.
