ASP: for years this name has stood for the most successful German gothic rock band and, irrespective of genre, for a concert recommendation par excellence. In 2008, the likeable band from Frankfurt went consistently further down their chosen creative path and released their masterpiece ‘Zaubererbruder – Der Krabat-Liederzyklus’ (very modestly billed as a ‘between-album’), yet another grand double album which was received enthusiastically by critics and fans alike. An entry at Number 13 in Germany’s official music industry charts Media Control was a first sign of widespread success for a genuine indie institution. In the following autumn the band set out onto another adventure and set off with four guest musicians to play an unplugged tour to go with the album, which sold out right down to the last seat! For further proof of this band’s untiring ability for self re-invention, there is a lasting document of this their latest adventure.
True to a line in one of the Zaubererbruder songs, “Ich wag’, was keiner je gewagt” (“I venture to do what no one has ever dared before”) the band went to play for high stakes with this release: for the very first time, a complete concert has been filmed in high definition, using the new camera sensation RED ONE.
A dark romantic adventure. Magic moments. Captured on film in double cinema resolution!
